The Truth About Atvs
An all-terrain vehicle which is most popularly known as ATV was primarily developed in Japan. The main function of this vehicle is to trek isolated and mountainous areas. In Japan, during spring thaws and rainy seasons, most of its steep roads are not anymore accessible by conventional vehicles; thus the ATV was designed to address this concern.
There are two famous designs of the ATV which consist of the three wheelers and the four wheelers. Between the two, the three wheeler ATV is found to be a better mode of transportation, most especially in areas which are impassable by other types of vehicles. The Japanese found the ATV’s so effective in mountainous roads and rough terrains that they decided on selling these vehicles to the Americans and to other market as well.
Unlike Japan, the United States initially used the ATV’s as recreational vehicles in the 1970′s. The ATV’s in the United States were taken as vehicles that provide thrill rides and great for adventures. In fact, nothing has changed over the years, because these vehicles are still used as recreational vehicles today.
However, aside from being used in recreational sports, the ATV is used as a hunting vehicle because this can tread grounds that are not accessible by pick-ups, four wheel drives, and other motorized vehicles. Thus, all-terrain vehicles are also used mainly in hunting, specifically in remote areas.
There are many manufacturers of ATV’s, but some of the most popular are those manufactured by Honda Motors. Honda is one of the leading automobile manufacturers in Japan, and is one of a number of car makers which embraced the idea of manufacturing a whole line of ATV’s. The main target of Honda’s ATV is the United States market. In fact, the first of its all-terrain vehicles, the Honda’s US 90 was basically designed for off-road recreation.
However, as more and more models of Honda ATV’s came out in the market, its purpose is not only limited to recreation, but to other functions as well. Eventually, as the family of Honda ATV’s grew, its function and usefulness also grew.
Today, there are many versions and models of ATV’s in the market. Each manufacturer has its own version and features that makes one unique from the other. Moreover, competitive all-terrain vehicles emerged in the market as well. One of these is the Rock Liner ATV’s which are famous for its quad design. Other popular ATV’s include Alpha Sports, Argo, Bombardier, Arctic Cat, Eton, Suzuki, and Yamaha among others. Each of these offers unique features that are specific to special needs and criteria.
