I know that sounds older than your starter, but hit with a hammer. Incoming not only have to turn, but must extend contacts. Yours may be changing, but does not extend. Sometimes a few hits it will be released. DO NOT hit while that heading. That can be dangerous. Dale of trying to start it. If all else fails, call a repair shop.
