Any state in a Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival?
Going on five days with a day stop at Cozumel and Progreso day. Is it worth worth paying for the ship-sponsored excursions? Or is safe enough and practical enough to take a taxi when we get there to take us to the beach restaurants, etc? We are not interested in diving, ATV, etc. Just more interested in relaxation, shopping, etc. Thanks!
It was not Progresso but have been to Cozumel three times on cruise ships. In Coz, it is very easy to get out on their own. You need to be sure to see the time and be sure to return to the ship at the time – Otherwise, they will not wait for you. You can take a taxi to the beaches [I would recommend Chankanaab - check out his site] and taxis are expected to return. The mall is in the center right, and can even be docked there [there are three springs Coz]. Purchases can be a nuisance, both because of aggressive traders and the number ships in port with you.
