You may have heard the term "stream" before and wondered what it meant. Hydro is the act of adjustment of the separate fuel circuits in a carburetor to optimize the mix of fuel / air entering the engine. For the jet untrained person can come across as very complicated and some people fear the process. Once you understand that the control circuits which part of the acceleration cycle, you will learn that jet is not all difficult. The following describes what each circuit does and how to adjust the circuit for optimal performance. This assumes you have a carburetor Keihin FCR Type (The information is translated into carburetors and other) found in almost every modern high-performance four-stroke ATV engine.
Fuel screw: Adjust the crash of the machine when you go wide to idle speed. If your engine does not idle smoothly down or crashes when you leave to speed you need to adjust the fuel screw out (richer) to clean it. If the engine idles down and then dies you need to turn the screw in (leaner) to allow the least amount of gas in the engine. Play around with the screw until the engine idles smoothly.
Supplier of idling: controls 0 to 1 / 4 throttle. This reaction requires at least the amount of adjustment on the rest. If the engine stops when you rev up then you need to make This rich (top number) if the marshes to rev up have to do this poor (bottom number).
Needle jet: Controls 1 / 4 to 3 / 4 accelerator. We can say more if this is out of tune when I do holeshots. If the engine is bogging when dumping the clutch on a holeshot or riding aa constant acceleration 1 / 2 and the engine is bogging then you need to move the c-clip up one notch (you drop the needle making it thinner). If the engine is cut in these situations is necessary to move the c-clip with a notch (raise the needle so it is richer). Setting the c-clip into the slot in the middle is a good place to start.
Main Jet: Controls 3 / 4 to full throttle and also affects all other jets slightly. This circuit is tested when the throttle wide open. If the engine is bogging you need to make the jet leaner (higher number) and if it is pinging or cut what you need to be richer (higher number).
Jetting can be a delicate and tedious. In any case, your engine should rev at a constant RPM at any throttle position and must rev and idle down without hesitation. Once you start getting your hands dirty and listen to your engine you'll become an expert shot. Hope this helped and good luck!
