Racing and riding with pain
Racing and riding with pain
BY COACH MARC Spataro
Unfortunately injuries and pain are common occurrences in the sport of ATV racing and riding. Treatment of these issues can be challenging, especially when it decides whether to stay in the competition or let your body heal and rest. Many professional cyclists have no choice but to back out there and race in order to maintain or improve their current points table. But there comes a time when you have to consider whether or not it is becoming more damage that can affect the rest of his life.
In order to make the right decision I suggest you use a medical professional to diagnose what type of injury and the pain you are dealing with. Make sure you fully understand your injury by asking as many questions as possible. Write down questions that come the mind before entering the doctor's office, sometimes the hearing of all that medical jargon can be overwhelming and is easy to forget important issues. Do not be afraid getting a second opinion, especially if you feel as if their questions were answered vaguely and not yet fully understand the injury or its result. No doctor will never say it's OK to race with an injury, but at least you can understand the gravity of the particular injury and decide if they are willing to take the risk of worsening the condition.
Some injuries may require physical therapy, be sure to choose a physical therapist who is familiar with our sport and has worked with athletes before. Using a professional who understands the physical demands through our bodies, while racing will be responsible for therapy given to prepare your body for future careers. I have the luck to have a physical therapist, Dr. Morgan Johnson, the staff at my school and has also competed in several mountain bike races and is an avid motorcyclist. His knowledge and understanding of ATV racing has helped many Pro Racers Motorcycle training on injuries come and continue to compete with the evidence for any missing. Together Morgan and check the status of a rider and develop a pro-active formula to accelerate the process recovery and strengthen the injured area.
Recently MPT 's Bill Balance had a ribcage injury serious one that would have kept most riders out of the game, to end its racing season. Using techniques to help reduce inflammation, relax muscles, increase blood flow, reduce pain, and providing support to the affected area, Bill was not only able to compete, but to ensure its 9th Championship Commission National Child. To the credit of Bill also has a great mental strength to come an injury like this, but this kind of mental strength is exactly why has continued to dominate the cross-country running for many years.
If you are suffering from an injury or a recurring new here is several suggestions to help with the recovery process. As mentioned above to see a doctor and get a grasp on the problem. If rest as possible and restore the injured area until the conditions. Be proactive to help speed recovery. Reduce inflammation by using ice / heat packs. Soak a painful sore muscles in Epsom salts baths. Visit a massage therapist who is familiar with the athletes and injuries. massage will help to eliminate stress muscle, increase blood flow and reduce inflammation. Use prescribed medications or the counter pain relievers to help control pain relaxation helps recovery. Provide your body with good quality food to supply the necessary building blocks for reconstruction and repair of the injured area. proteins and water quality are the two most important nutrients to promote healing in the body. Visualize healing in your body. The brain is the main organ body, use it to help with self-healing, a technique that has been practiced for 1,000 years. My mother has survived cancer three episodes, each time given a certain period of life, through their belief in the healing of self and traditional medical practices are alive and well today.
Ultimately the best you can to stay injury free, ride smart, wear protective gear, and try not to take extreme risks on your ATV. As always, if there is any way I can help contact me at www.motoprotraining.com ! MS
