Building a deserted corridor Superlite?

Where I can find information on building a desert Superlite? I a rear / mid engine mounted either rear or four-wheel drive. I'm working with limited funds and junkyard used old cars / Truck / ATV for most of the parties. I need to know what to look for in an engine. Motorcycles, cars, trucks? I want it to be very fast so that power means, but also the light that would help .. How do you configure a transmission? Do I need it or simply PANLAR cage open? Is it just pull direction system out of an old car or build my own? How I can configure broken? What kind of tires should I use? I'll be running on land and gravle. Go to the need for suspension. Outside of an old car or truck? ATV, perhaps? What about the differences? How I can configure a hand break? I am sure that I missed some, but that's all I can think of right now.

to answer all your questions would be like writing a book, I like going to see what others have and see what you like and copy the good parts. remember that turbocharged engines have more power out how much they weigh. take a train across the disk of a car is easy. I'd take the engine and transmission and drive lines and rear differential (front and center are within transmission) equipment and wiring a WRX STI. then make my own tube frame.
