Superlite construction of a desert?
Where I can find information on building a desert Superlite? I want a butt or mid-mounted engine and either rear-wheel drive. I'm working with limited funds and junkyard used old cars / trucks / ATV most of the parties. I need to know what to look for in an engine. Motorcycles, cars, trucks? I want to be very fast so that power means, but also light would help .. How do you configure a transmission? Do I need it or simply PANLAR cage open? Is it just pull the address system outside a car old or build my own? How I can configure broken? What kind of tires should I use? I'll be running on land and gravle. Go to the necessity of suspension. Outside of an old car or truck? ATV, perhaps? What about the differences? How I can configure a hand break? I'm sure I missed some, but that's all I can think of right now.
I'll leave you a few questions … What kind of tools do you have? Do you at least have a welder, pipe bender or at least have easy access to them. When you say limited funds, how limited are we talking about? Are you actually going to be racing this machine? I'm talking about careers sanctions, which have established standards for different classes. If so, check the rules and go from there. It would kind of suck if built a machine with a 6 cylinder motor in it and it could only run VW engine in its class. Have you ever thought a gocart or mistakes? It could be a little cheaper and easier for a first time build. Do not think you can not get the power of a small Briggs engine. Some of my friends are knocking on the top 70 with a 12 HP little lawnmower.
