Playa del carmen soon?

We are preparing to go to Playa del Carmen – in three weeks. Last year we stayed at the Barcelo Maya Tropical and made the tour shopping, ATV drinking round and round (wow it was fun). After reading lots and lots of information on sightseeing and excursions – I prefer hear what you've experienced first hand. Maybe give me some ideas. My husband and I are doing the ATV tour but one day we are taking the ferry to Cozumel and have no idea of what to do when you get off the ferry. I read the reviews on TripAdvisor, but sometimes reaching just overwhelming. Anyone going to be around the week of 11 Beach October-15? This is our second trip – so we are still very green in this.
