Why politicians always think they should make laws to be "safe" for the masses?

I mean things like the laws motorcycle helmet, the safety belt laws, speed limits Stupid 45 mph on highways little used, no firecrackers, Roman candles, or bottle rockets. 16 year old age requirement to ride a quad! The prohibition of three-wheel ATV sales, do not drink when you are on your boat in the river, ride in the back of a pickup is even illegal here in Pa! What happened to free will? I'm not allowed to drive my car on the road without a belt fastened, but my grandson for 7 years legally riding a school bus without seat belts! They are not even installed on the bus!

Because people that the Gov't is supposed to protect everyone from everything. I'm sick of it.
