Go Kart chain drive problem?

I have a custom built go kart with a Honda 200 cc, 5 speed. I'm preparing by making an axis a live axle, my gearing is 18 in the engine and 18 and 18 in the connector with the drive shaft end 60. My problem is I can not keep my primary chain jumping. Any suggestion.

Add a tensioner for the chain loose side.
