Who has a 03-06 Silverado or Ram?
Im about to buy a truck and I'm looking for a Chevrolet Silverado or Dodge Ram. I will not hear Ford. I like Ford, but I'm leaning more towards competition. If you have a Silverado or Ram: – Is it reliable? – Any Pros? – Any Contras? – Do you like the stock stereo / speakers or suggest to put a custom stereo? – Are you happy with the overall truck or disappointed? – How to handle / drive? – I heard about the fuel economy isn't higher (it is a truck though), how much is paid in gas (for deposit full, or for their daily / weekly trip)? – Is it constant in the shop for repairs or simply the need for maintnance typical? – Also, if you have to take dirtbikes, ATV, etc (in bed or a trailer), do you like how the truck handles? Let me know your opinions, advice, etc! Thanks!
I have a GMC Sierra 2004, which is close enough. 1. Yes, it is reliable. More reliable than any Japanese or European cars that I had before. 2. Pro – reliable, easy to maintain very good quality for a truck, excellent vehicle in general. 3. With the – Interior rattley shortly after 85K miles, intermediate shaft clunking around, I get a bit of piston slap noise, but not too bad in '04 and later models. 4. The stock stereo is fine, 6 speakers, but decide for yourself. I have had Cars with Infinity, Bose, Harman Kardon and systems and while they were good, not worth the money. The cars I've had with custom stereos also not worth worth the money and the time it took all mod. 5. I am very happy with the truck and buy another GMC in a heartbeat. 6. It handles very well for a 2WD truck 1 / 2 ton, but it is not Corvette. Ride is stiff with trailer towing package, but that's a truck for you. Lexus Want a ride? Buy a Lexus. 7. Reduction consumption is around 18mpg. I can pay about $ 60 to fill it. 8. I've never been in a shop recall the exception of GM (a minor thing.) I do all my own maintenance. It will take some time before the brakes of the store, shuttle service, coolant discharge, etc. 9. No bicycles or anything but me I have carried in steel and iron bed and well managed, unless the load to the point where the rear springs bottomed out. Hope this helps. purchase of trucks happy!
