In-depth analysis of the ever popular BMX bikes
Sales of BMX bikes are increasing faster than almost any other type of bicycle. BMX bikes can be seen in every street, sidewalk and even in their natural habitat, off-road. Even if you never leave your house you have certainly seen bicycles and on television. Sure, you probably know what a BMX bike, but what you may not know is what exactly differentiates a BMX bike from other motorcycles. We'll tell how they are different.
Start with their origin. It's simple, really. Motorcycle remained more or less the same for many decades after have been invented, but the popularity of motorcycle racing off-road or motocross, during the 60s changed that. The children saw the pros racing around on their dirt bikes and taking them off dirt ramps. They wanted to be like their heroes so kids imitated their bikes, which at the time, there were no for such horseplay. Not much time for bike manufacturers to catch on and start manufacturing bikes made specifically for the rigors of racing and jump off the road. Soon they were sanctioned bicycle motocross (BMX) throughout the country. BMX The market segment grew and grew and continues to grow today. And of course the majority of children (and adults) you see on these bikes do not race ever and probably the next was nothing more daring than a curb. Not yet however, BMX bikes are made to take a beating.
Now, to discuss the physical attributes of the BMX bike that makes it different from other bikes. Features individuals can be reduced to the structure, wheels and tires, brakes and gears.
The framework of BMX bikes are designed to be very light for can be easy to handle and very strong so it can withstand the stresses of riding and a career. The light weight of a BMX frame is also important because a motorbike lighter can save valuable seconds in a close fought race BMX. Aluminum and chrome-molybdenum steel are two materials most favored by BMX'ers. Regulate Bikes are generally made of cheap steel grades prone to oxidation, or breaking even when it is put under great stress.
Another feature distinctive BMX bikes are their wheels and tires. Most BMX bikes have 20 "wheels, of course, can also be purchased in other sizes. Not the 12 "size for toddlers just learning to walk. These days kids are learning to ride a bike before learning to read! The next larger size is 16 "wheel. These bikes are used primarily by children ages 8 to 12. Once they enter adolescence, most children ride the 20 "bikes. This is the size preferred by many adults and professionals, too. There BMX bikes with even larger wheels or sizes among them, but they are so popular.
The tires on BMX bikes are different from conventional road bikes. They are bumps that provide excellent traction on dirt roads and tracks. In fact, very similar to mountain bike tires, just smaller.
Speaking of mountain bike rides often have as many as 21 gears! Road bikes and beach cruisers are usually not many, but not to vary from 3 to 18 speeds. The BMX bikes, however, have only one gear. They have a sprocket on the front and one rear wheel. That's it, they use just one gear because they are made for total sprints and precise control for freestyle tricks.
Another feature that unlike conventional bikes BMX bikes are their brakes. BMX Bikes often have only a rear brake. Having a front brake increase the risk of an accident using only the front and causing an accident. In addition, the runners do not need extra stopping power as they do not want to stop! A BMX bike made for doing tricks will have a front brake, however.
BMX bikes also usually come with pads to protect the rider during accidents and wrecks, which can happen a lot during races. Most runners do not bother with pads, however, are too cool for that. If the bike has pills, usually in the top bar, handlebar clamp and handlebar crossbar.
BMX bikes are a booming business, and its popularity has increased in almost all market segments. You can often see BMX riders on televised competitions and commercial. BMX bikes are being ridden by all sorts of people, from professional riders to five years just for fun, adults who never grew out of them, and all the world in the middle.
BMX bikes are available in a range of sizes to fit all types of riders and all ages. They also have many features special to meet a variety of uses. There are, of course, a wide range of prices, too. If you are considering buying a bicycle for yourself or someone else, the best source of information are the people in your local bike shop. There are also tons of reliable information online. The two main questions you need consider is how the bike will be used and how much you're willing to spend. From there it's up to you.
