World Mountain Bike: Latest News and Events
Whether or not you are a fan of mountain biking, there's something for everyone in this world of action, impressive runners, and more than adrenaline.
For those not familiar with mountain biking all things, here is a brief history. If you really want to go back and get to the nitty gritty of biking, you have to take a look at the late 60s. It was then in San Francisco, where two guys just got tired of the hustle and bustle caused in part by all traffic in the city. Gary Fisher (a bike rider banned from the traditional sport of motorcycle racing, because he had too much hair) and his partner, Carl Kelly, teamed up and moved to Marin County to be closer to the nature and manage their lives in a more relaxed atmosphere. It was there they discovered the ultimate thrill of a bombardment by land routes by bicycle. They also met Joe Breeze and Carcacha '(also known as' Bomber' or 'Cruisers' and age 5 Schwinn 10-speed bicycle that had been modified).
Fast-forward to mid-70s when Fisher, Kelly, Breeze, and another at the top, Tom Ritchey, were responsible for organizing and enhancing the careers of three-mile long that took place near Fairfax, California along the Cascade Fire Trail. All drivers start at various intervals in the field with the hope of one thing: the opportunity to get their hands a true "scrap" and "break the 2.9 miles of dirt path that had a vertical drop of 1600 feet." It was there that the motto of the Hell's Angels was adopted: "Ride to live and travel and live."
While increased media involvement and visibility in recent years due to the inability to properly secure the event locally, 1984 was his last race of this type.
Today, Gary Fisher is just as passionate about cycling mountain as it was in the 60s. A self-confessed "moto-bum," Fisher sold his successful company manufacturing bicycles, so he could return to their first love: racing, inspiring and innovative product designs for cycling.
From recreation to competition, there is something for all the world when it comes to mountain biking. For hard-core drivers (or just for pure entertainment), you can check out some of the popular movies out there about the sport. Titles include virtuoso, Seasons, Krank 7, Crazy, fluids Ride: like a pro, only to name a few. For more titles check out www.ameibo.com
Still I can not get enough? Look no further than Bartlett and Paul Aaron Roberts, filmmakers whose anticipated sequel to the popular "Flat Out standing outside," "Foot Out Flat Out 2 – Fast and Loose" will be released on DVD 23 November 2009. This film features mountain bike racing mountain at the highest level in the UCI World Cup and world championships. The film was shot in three different continents and numerous offers viewers pilot sections (including downhill and MotoX).
In the next year, mountain bikers should look for bikes in the Alps Winter Series. Events and Innerleithen limit has partnered with Alpine Bikes, Trek, and Fox Racing, to provide a new downhill race three competition to be held in Innerleithen in Scotland. The courses offered will be a mix of everything, plus old tracks will be updated and new sections built. The races were held in January 30-31, February 20 to 21, and March 13-14, 2010.
