ATV, Go Kart questions … guys please help me?

I have ten years of age .. a child and I'd like to buy one of those big go karts Christmas (not the little I mean the kind that look like dune buggies) .. but I can not find any dealers in my area .. someone told me it was because The Go Karts are not very good and reliable .. and break down easily .. has any heard of this? and if so would be a much better .. ATV When buying good I would still be fun for him through his teenage years .. do not want a small one .. any suggestion on size / Fast, etc. .. please any help would be appreaciated .. thanks
