How I can get a vehicle registered has no papers or plates?
I answered an ad in the newspaper recently and bought a 1971 VW Beetle. The car had no plates and no red tape I could find. There were several telltale signs that the car had sat a number of years, but I understood that was a project. The seller said he had originally bought it at auction with the intention of using their (good) engine for a dune buggy rail but like many other good plans take time. Once paid, I was not expected no bill of sale, I feel that it should. It was as if the seller believes that since he had left the car go very cheap, it was anyone else, and if it did, it would have been charged either more or destroyed in place. To the Like he could have gone to the trouble, but was expelled for something strange. The seller has a store in one easy place to find, so it's not as if I can not find it, and he does not seem to be trying to hide, hes just a character strangely irritable. My instinct: do not steal, but still need help. John
Do you have a neighbor or friend who is a cop? Running a query in the VIN and if there is still a log of who was the last registered owner. If you luck, then you can contact that person to sign the papers for you. In some states, you can go to the DMV and pay a fee, sign a form, and they will do a search for you. If not, we will have a real hard time with this. You may end up scrapping it.
