How do you get a buggy engine on the rear axle?
I and some are partners who want to build a buggy but cannot seem to figure out how get the engine over the rear axle. We are using a V8 engine. Is there some kind of gearbox to be used or we can use a chain from the gearbox directly to the gearbox is below? Any help would be awesome
First I should mention that this is a large engineering project or a project that will use existing methods. The engineering approach is not recommended, it is highly unlikely that you could something to work or maintain platform with time. The fact that you say V-8 tells me that you can forget about the chains of transmission or any homemade solution I work in a cart platform-go size. The usual solution is to settle for an engine either in front or behind an existing production trans-axle. The most common is VW, Corvair, or a Porsche. With the VW that can self-destruct after a V-8. Since this is a very complicated project the best advice I can give is that a little research. So I've included some links. You will find that V-8 power can be sexy, but it complicates a simple project. And in mid or rear engine V-8 power is rare.
