How often do I have to run the engine to keep the battery charged?
I have a less than one year old Honda S-Wing 125cc scooter. Through an injury that I can not walk much at this time. As electric start is all I really do not want a flat battery. What frequency "must" I start and how long to ensure that this does not happen? Thanks for your responses.
By itself, a wet cell battery lose about 1% of their charge per day. It is good to leave a wet cell along with a load of less than 50% or normal. If your bike has fuel injection The CPU uses a little juice to keep the "memory" and other things you can get the juice as a clock, etc. These things will pull a battery down faster. This this, a trickle charge once a month to keep your battery in perfect condition. $ 10 charger will work and when used during the winter, make your battery last much longer, perhaps double the battery life at least. Run the engine a few minutes each week will have no engine or heated oil well and will lead to a lot of condensation inside it. Better to use a loader instead of engine operation.
