Are you paying for the name when you buy a Vespa or are worth the extra $? Any other scooters better?

I want a bike with enough power for up to 35 mph. Are electric scooters worth a look?

The debate Vespa scooters vs other is a very hot one. I own a Vespa and original scooter (made by PGO in Taiwan). In some ways, compared to other Vespas scooters is like comparing a Mercedes with Toyota: Can not be faster or get more MPGs, but there is definitely a difference in the quality of construction, details and fit and finish. A lot of bike owners Vespas as any other bash style or appearance, but that makes as much sense as the owner of Toyota saying the same of a Mercedes owner. Vespas have some performance advantages as well, I think his metal bodies for a better balanced, smooth ride. They also perform and handle better at high speeds comparable to some scooters. The metal bodies are more and less than one. They are very expensive to repair any damage to the body, but will survive crashes that would total more plastic scooter body. In addition, painted metal just looks better. To be sufficient to reach 35 mph, you do not need more than a 50 cc scooter. I suggest you take a look at Honda, Yamaha, Kymco, SYM genuine and as Piaggio and Aprilia (made by Vespa's parent company, but are less expensive). These are all quality brands and many of which is "best" will down to personal preference, availability, and distributors in your area. electric scooters still have a long way to go before competing with the gas in terms price and performance. There are also plenty of cheap China-made electric scooters and gas there. I'd recommend avoiding them. (Not all bikes Chinese are horrible, but most are. That's a whole 'theme ter.) What original worth, is introducing a friend "green", a 125cc adjusted to obtain maximum fuel economy, but that takes place somewhere between a 50cc and 125cc their actions. Vespa has hybrids coming next year but I hope it will be quite expensive. They are also introducing some new models from 50cc '09. Keep in mind that a lot of people buying 50cc motorcycle thinking that all you need or want to travel at lower speeds quickly decide to trade for something bigger once they click. They discover they want more places to ride and beyond. Also, without changing the 50cc scooters generally max out at 45 mph, that is totally pushes the throttle open. Do you still want the power to keep up with traffic and avoid obstacles and bad drivers. All that said, I know many people who like pushing their 50 cc. Depending on your state, have some advantages: you may not need insurance, you may not need a full motorcycle license, registration may be different (50 no, I need the plates in some states) and in many places you can park a 50cc scooter on a sidewalk or bike.
