Gas Powered Scooters
Why buy a gas scooter?
With thousands of scooters selling weekly, the increasing popularity of today's models is hardly a secret. But if you are ready to put money for a scooter, you must first ask, "Do I look in the gas or electric models?"
Points were considered for electric motor scooters in Part 1 of this series. (If you missed it, check my site.) Now let's look at the benefits of gas powered scooters. It is possible which has been one of electric scooters after scanning their selling points – but gas powered (and hybrid) scooters actually have plenty to offer. To the read this, you should ask, "How do I see myself with the bike?" Answering that question will take you to the right choice. OK, here we go.
Gas powered motor scooters score points because …
:: You can travel many miles without refueling. Even the best batteries must be recharged every couple of hours (or 10-15 miles), whereas a tank of 1.2 gallons in a gas powered model can carry up to 200 miles.
:: Scooters are gas cost effective where speed is concerned. In other words, may lead to more pay proportionately less. Gas powered models in the price level electric models are typically 15-25 mph faster. And if you have your heart set on running on the highway, you will likely need a gas supply (or hybrid) scooter.
:: Gas scooters offer greater versatility. With greater acceleration punch, speed and power, gas models are the workhorses of the scooter world. They may have more weight, more unity, and perform better on hills and rough terrain.
:: Gas Scooters are usually more durable because they are designed to handle high speeds and are often able to use off-road.
:: Load is so fast and easy as filling a tank of 1.2 gallons. With an electric scooter, is difficult to recharge a battery on the fly (departures from the sidewalk, anyone?), and the load is four to eight hours.
:: Gas powered scooters work well in all seasons, but battery power is reduced by extreme heat or cold.
Do you feel more uncertain than when I started to read? Hopefully I do not – but if so, pay attention. There is good news: gas scooters and electric motors are produced by highly regarded manufacturers, both represent huge savings fuel for cars and trucks, and both are much better for the environment. In addition, hybrid scooters are being developed that combine the best of both fuels.
Here's a quick fix. If you want to invest in a model with a very minimal footprint, an electric motor scooter may be the right choice. This is especially true if your use will be mostly urban or residential and short range. If you want to pack your scooter like luggage and take on long trips, then buy an electric model.
If you want a bike that is capable of road or off road travel, start looking at gas-powered models. You pay less up front to set the speed – and you'll have a tough, versatile scooter. Its fuel economy is not as high as it would with an electric model, but to get at least 50 miles per gallon on gasoline is nothing roll your eyes.
