Indoor Go Kart Racing
Tips for improving Go Kart racing performance?
went to an indoor go kart racing track and performed miserably. Wondering if there are recommended web sites, or perhaps windows based simulations that would help improve my technique. I slow down too much for corners, and dont know how to find the fastest line.
1. The very basic rule is “cut the corners”. Means going wide into the turn, then being tight inside and going wide out of the turn. Wide in-tight inside-wide out. But it works at single turns only; if there is a chain of turns you do need to find the fastest lane. Oh, and you should stop braking right BEFORE you’re going into the turn and step back on gas after passing the turn point, i.e. while straightening the kart.
2. Look for “manuals for advanced driving” or “racing school handbooks”, I’m sure there are some on-line.
3. There is the great (and very fair) game Super 1 Karting, released by Midas in 2000. Will you be able to find it?
4. Don’t be afraid of fast kart driving AT ALL. Amateur karts are very safe and, in most cases, when it seems that you gonna crash into tyres, you will not. Bravely step on gas and it’ll skid you away from the trouble spot.
5. But the simpliest way is – ask instructors of that track to explain you the clues, order a learning session or something.
