Children and Quads are not always a Good Mix
ATV have grown in popularity to a level never imagined by their original designers. The nickname often used the quad is attached to the ATV four wheel variety. The quad can be many things to many people. A four-wheel drive quad can be a work horse, plow of snow, earth-engine, two-wheeled quad etc can be a pilot track traditional unit to explore the desert. A sport quad can be used for racing quad organized or anything-goes fun. How about a quad right size for children? What is its purpose? A child may be quad an introduction to the exciting sport of ATV. May be the desire of parents to live his own childhood fantasy when perhaps we were not lucky enough to own an SUV. It may also be the fulfillment of a child's incessant requests for their own quad. Parents should always take a step back and objectively analyze the situation before buy a quad for a child under sixteen. Every situation is different and every child is different.
In a past episode of one of the programs funniest video television network had a clip of a child, probably three years, happily sitting on his 50cc quad. A parent holding the camera Video and any parent willing to let go of the atv at any time. The result of this video clip was so predictable that it was not even funny. Apparently, he taught the child to start, but did not seem to learn to stop. Naturally, he accelerated into a wooden fence and hit hard. He wore a helmet and do not appear to be harmed in some way. The audience responded with laughter and applause. The clip can be seen as funny, but realistically, this guy should not have been in this quad to his age, at least not in such a closed quarters as was the case in the backyard.
One can only imagine how many times this same situation occurs when the camera is not rolling. How many major accidents have taken place there? Unnecessary injuries resulting from the decision of parents to buy a four businesses for a child not ready to ride. Children develop at different rates and most of these accidents are not even the child fails. The sizes are implemented by ATV manufacturers are recommendations and not rules of thumb. If a child is not ready to ride the quad that was designed for their age group, then it is the responsibility parents to delay the introduction of quad until the child has developed enough to understand the consequences that can come with ATV riding.
