History of gas scooters
The first patents for motorcycles dating back to 1921. The Razor scooter was later developed by Gino Tsai in Shanghai, Taiwan and became an instant hit with the public. It was not long before the motor scooter popularity to expand all over the world.
Even before 1950 there were up to 110,000 motorcycles on the road in Italy alone. It's been a little over 50 years of the Vespa-Douglas Corporation in the United Kingdom sells its gas scooters first. Douglas Corporation was on the verge of bankruptcy when they began selling their gas scooters . It was a great success in the 1950 Motorcycle Hall and saved the company from possible financial ruin.
From 1950-1958 Vespa sold over 125,000 of their gas powered scooters in the United Kingdom. Why the success? During this period the European countries do not have a lot of money and there was not much gas available to the public. Due to the shortage of petrol and gas mileage motorcycle gas popularity quickly escalated.
It was not long for the Italian models (The Piaggio Vespa and Lambretta from Innocenti) to spread to other countries. In France they became so popular that the French tried to enter the booming manufacturing their own. In the first half of 1950 the sale of gas scooters climbed to about 1 million a year in France.
Other countries wanted to take advantage of the new Fashion and tried to jump on the bandwagon of the band. While some were successful and others not. Germany began to manufacture larger touring models, but this did not satisfy the public in the way the smaller, cheaper and more models of low fuel consumption in Italy and France did. These smaller models were extremely popular in the European market.
Scooters Manufacturers Tourism in Germany built some very strong and powerful versions, and were the first to install electric starters. These larger versions were great for traveling, travel and compete, even, but were not as popular as the smaller, cheaper, more efficient models used to travel shorter distances in the city.
Vespa began marketing a couple of very popular gas scooters powered by Piaggio, the GS 125 and GS 150cc. These were improved versions of earlier models for several reasons. The main reason is probably because the heavy equipment mechanism rods were replaced by smaller cables and lightweight.
France's Roussey Scooters tried to outdo the competition leaving the Italian with a 175cc model. These vehicles were very nice and included the first water-cooled engines, along with other new features, but because he was starting a tug could not compete with newer models of Italy, were already offering versions with electric start.
As these wonderful vehicles have evolved over the years have become increasingly popular worldwide. Today they are everywhere. They are cheap to buy, economical to operate, and are very practical and functional. These are not toys and are really fun driving. Mobility is electric, gas, foldable scooters and utility.
The electric types are often used by children and adolescents, but also are popular among elderly and disabled. Models for people with disabilities are usually called mobility scooters. Folding varieties can be folded and conveniently stored at desks, in closets or other small areas and utility types are used for many purposes. They are more popular than go karts, bicycles or mini go carts. Scooters, sometimes called mopeds or go peds, are very functional, convenient and are here to stay.
