Mopeds Charleston Sc

Are scooters allowed on the trains?

I have a little Honda 49cc scooter that I would like to bring on board my train ride from Savannah, GA to Charleston, SC. It would save a lot in taxi fees as the Amtrak station is seven miles from downtown. I have read that the bikes can be brought, what about mopeds??

I know they are banned in Northern California on CalTrain, ACE, and Amtrak California. The reason is the gasoline engine: smoke and fire hazard. A quick review of Amtrak's website has this list of prohibited items: The following types of items are prohibited for both checked and carry-on luggage: – Any type of weapon, firearm, ammunition, explosives or a weapon. – Incendiary bombs, including flammable gases, liquids and fuels. – Large, sharp objects such as axes, ice picks and swords. – Corrosive chemicals or hazardous materials such as liquid bleach, tear gas, mace, radioactive and harmful bacteriological materials. – Batteries with acid that can spill or leak (except for batteries used in motorized wheelchairs or devices similar decline in passenger mobility). – Club elements, such as batons and truncheons. – Fragile and / or valuables, including but not limited to electronic equipment. (Laptops and handheld devices can be brought on board, however, Amtrak does not accept any liability for damages.) – Animals (except service animals). – Of great size and / or overweight items. SORRY. My other suggestion would be to look to see if your bike lockers are in the Charleston station.
