Mopeds Connecticut

Would this moped be a smart purchase?
I’ve never bought a motor vehicle of any sort before and know very little about them. I just got my license. I decided since cars cost too much and I don’t really need one except to get to work (which is only a mile away with a gas station in between) I might as well save money and get a moped. In Connecticut, Mopeds 50cc or less are street legal and do not require registration or insurance, just a driver’s license.
I’m tight on money right now and I found this old moped for only $300. Looking at it, does it look worth its price or should I look somewhere else?

Thanks.
Actually, work’s more like 2 miles away. I can’t bike to work because it’s not a job where you can go in sweaty.
Oh, actually, it’s registration that you don’t need. You do need insurance, which is just dumb cuz it’s not like you’re gonna do damage to a car worthy of large sums of money haha.
hey an old Puch, cool, I have one, runs like a champ, very durable, easy to fix if you ever need to and plenty of parts available, except they go for around $1000 here in CA.
