My bike (not scooter) suddenly lead to only half speed?

I have a Sears / Puch Free Spirit (2 times, I do not know what year maybe 78) and out of nowhere is only half the speed that normally goes. I bought this scooter last May and have not done any work on it since then, so I'm guessing it might actually be something simple that just do not know. I know almost nothing about mopeds other then how to mount and fill the gas and that's it. I have little money right now otherwise it would be for us over to the store and get it fixed up really fast. Please be very detailed with your answers, do not assume I know anything. Just want to know how to get this fixed again so I can get my hands on everything without having to pay outrageous prices for gas a car. Thank you know how to mix the gas, not that.

Is your choke? I used to own a PUCH (early 80s). Activate the choke OFF by turning the throttle wide open. You hear a click from carbohydrates. The choke is used to start the engine easier in cold weather (or for the first time in the day). If that limit is in the air making the air / fuel ratio richer (easier starting). But because the air is limited, the moped can not go fast. === Because you say you do not know much, which is 2 times and you have to mix oil with gasoline.
