There are three main types Motorcycle: street, off-road and dual purpose. Within these types, there are many different subtypes of motorcycles for many different purposes.

The motorcycle riding position of the body depends on the pilot geometry (anthropometry) in combination with the geometry of the motorcycle itself. These factors create a set of three basic positions [57].
- Sport – the rider leans forward in the wind and the weight of the upper torso is supported by air pressure, provided that the motorcycle is traveling at the speed typically above 50 mph (80 km / h).
