Why call motorcycles "bikes"?
Bi-cycle is called a bicycle, derived from the bi (as in two), then "ke" as in the cycle, or cyc. Why is customary to call a bike a bike? "Should not be called a" Moke "? As a person bicycle sometimes, it bothers me when I say, I rode my bike, and some as Jack says, "oh, you have a" bicycle, then I have to explain that I am not a retard Elaine, huh?!? Have you read the question, I do not ride a bicycle, a motorcycle. I've never even had a desire to drive a motorcycle I mean is … A bycycle bike should mean, so when I say "I rode my bike yesterday at the" store, people do not think that I mean that I got on a Harley to go It makes sense to find a drink now? If you put the same thinking that someone was who coined the phrase "bicycle" (bi, cyc), with the motorcycle after would come with "burro" (Month, cyc)
Two possible reasons. First Motorcycles motorcycles are sometimes called (do not use much, though), and therefore be short for motor bike, motorcycle alias. Besides, I think that motorcycles are known as the first bikes because bikes were simply powered bicycles. Not was not until the engines became more powerful than the standard bike frame was no longer used.
