Tenerife – Places to visit

El Teide from the parking tourists are taken on the volcano by a funicular railway that ends at 3550m. To reach the top is a permit especially necessary, which can be obtained easily in the capital of the island of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It's worth checking if the cable car is operational before out, and that does not run in bad weather conditions. From the top is a breathtaking view over the island. However, if you like cycling uphill there are plenty of steep roads to climb as soon as you leave the coastline. For less fit, a travel company offers a road trip to the summit of Teide with a down cycle, there is no necessary traffic. Water sports are available in the south such as surfing, windsurfing, speed parashooting the boat and jet-ski. Nowhere seems to rent canoes. Santa Cruz has a big market for the station Sunday morning. Las Americas is a Thursday and Saturday and Sunday from Los Cristianos. Santa Cruz has a number of museums and art gallery. Also a space museum and a planetarium on a small scale near La Laguna. Barranco del Infierno Barranco del Infierno is near Adeje popular with hikers, you need to book to go on the walk. There is little to see, but the vegetation on this route and a small cascade it is the end. The westernmost point is Point Teno, with excellent views. Of course, many visitors simply want to spend your time on a beach or pool hotel. Playa de las Americas beach is volcanic sand, but black of Los Cristianos imported sand is yellow. The black sand feels just like the yellow but not so nice to see for many. Beaches often have sun loungers with parasols to hire for the day, but if you're doing it for a few days is probably better to buy only an umbrella and a beach mat. February is a great costume parade by the local population is said to be third in size after the Rio carnival Notting Hill. Tenerife is an excellent destination for hiking. There are routes for everyone, from a quiet day tour full at the time very strenuous hikes in the requirement ground either with a great climbing, descending or both. There are several books describing walking routes, for example, two books Landscapes of Tenerife Sunflower Books, one concerning north side and one on the south side. It's a good idea to get a guide before going to Tenerife, and that might be hard to find. Visit the beautiful ancient cities La Orotava and La Laguna, the latter being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the world-class botanical garden just above Puerto de la Cruz.
