my ATV keeps backfiring when I give it gas and it loses power,oil is coming?
out of the overflow hose. Help Its a polaris magnum 425 liquid fourstroke automatic. It has 257 miles on it. It was sitting inside before we got it. Oh also it wont go into high range and the lights dont come on. to start it we HAVE to pull start.
Sounds to me like you have a blown head gasket if the oil is comming out of the coolant overflow tube. The high range problem could be worn syncro’s, friction discs or bands in the transmission. If it has electric shift hi and low it could also be the actuator solenoid or fuse. Get the engine timing checked to as there is also a possiblity that the timing chain is worn causing the backfire and oil to be pushed out the crankcase through a breather tube.
