what should i do if i accidentally poured the wrong kind of gas in my atv (4-wheeler)?
i found this canister full of gas at my cousins house and i filled up my 4-wheeler i rode for about 2 minutes and then my 4-wheeler started to leave a heavy trail of smoke behind and after a while it just stopped, i tried to turn it back on but it would turn off again ( it seemed like it was flooded, but i dont think so) i think it was the gas because it kinf of smelled wierd and it had a yellowish color. my 4-wheeler is a 2000 Polaris xplorer 250 4×4. and its 2stroke , WHAT SHOULD I DO???????????
Worst case scenario: If your 4-wheeler is a 2 stroke and you put gas that was not mixed with 2 cycle oil you may have burnt out your rings.
Best case scenario: You put some stale gas in and you soaked the sparkplugs and they are not firing. I would drain the tank and the float bowl in the carb. Then I would put in fresh gas mixed with 2 cycle oil, change the spark plugs, take the air filter off of the carb, and spray some starter fluid in there. If it doesn’t start after you do that then you probably have a serious problem, in which case I would have a certified atv or motorcycle mechanic take a look at it.
