Prohibition of quads?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7447730.stm Why is it that whenever someone is too stupid Rulez for joining everyone screams and ban this ban that !?!?!?! This guy was driving a quad on the road (which is illegal) and had an accident with a car. The boys of 16 years, cousin also had a quad accident. If after the child has an accident that maybe his family should prohibit the use and buy quads, since parents obviously are not enough to ensure that the child uses the quad in a responsible manner. Now they are screaming ban and highlight the dangers. In my opinion you have to be stupid not to have realized before the potential dangers of driving a quad on the road. Shame on family for being so irresponsible.

I'm surprised the BBC is saying that these bikes are illegal on the road, you can actually get 'road legal versions. The illegality only in this sense was the young man in question was a minor, and not having a license or insurance et.al. Frankly I agree with you that their parents' responsibility to ensure that their children obey the law, and should supervise any use accordingly. I do not want to see them banned – too off-road fun.
