NTSB releases report on Merritt Island plane that crashed in SC MOUNT PLEASANT – An experimental jet engine-single which took off from Merritt Island appeared shaky and unstable landing on the runway at an airport in South Carolina and then went nearly straight up in the air before flipping upside down and crash July 19, according to a preliminary report released by the NTSB.
