Where and how I can know if there is an ATV helmet law in my county or state?

I live in Troup County, Georgia, and within limits Hogansville City. An officer told me today that my 12 year old could not ride the 4 wheeler without a helmet. He said it is a law. I understand that for security reasons should use, but I do not think it is a law. How I can know if he is?
