Summer Fun Along the Southern Coast road trip to California

The last time it went round the north coast of California, now is the time accelerate your path Trip Planning and zip along the south coast to complete your own California Cruisin 'Dream trip.

We left one of my favorite areas, Big Sur. In short – and the main reason to include this in your road trip planning – Big Sur offers stunning views. It's that stretch of highway where land meets the sea with amazing media because the Santa Lucia Mountains rise like gigantic sentinels of the Pacific Ocean.

I recommend staying on Highway 1 for a journey of unforgettable coastal road. In this way, your Road Trip Planner will include highlights like hiking at Limekiln Park State, and treasure hunting at Jade Beach, one of the few places where you can find quality Jade strewn like pebbles.

Settle into your road trip with a scenic drive along the road until it becomes Cabrillo in San Luis Obispo North Coast Highway. Soon you'll find San Simeon, home of the opulent Hearst Castle. Hearst Castle is the palatial estate built by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. It is one of the largest historic house museums in the U.S. and well worth the price of tickets for tour information.

From here, suggested places to add to your road trip planner are Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach (a popular ATV campground all sand dunes).

Now here is where I recommend the court to Highway 101 to discover a city in California with a decidedly touch Danish Solvang. I found it quite charming, with stores offering delicate lace and handmade quilts, quaint Danish cuisine in restaurants, and a European flair buildings lining the main streets. Of course, you can see the ocean once it goes to Santa Barbara, the quintessential California coastal town.

Oxnard Below you will find the sexy city of Malibu, full of opulent homes in the hills and beautiful bodies lying on beaches. Be sure to enjoy spring Santa Monica as we continue south. It is a fun place to spend the night. But definitely the light of day, people to see the large number of characters found in Venice Beach.

For now, you're in the thick of Southern California, a region where sunglasses, shorts and flip-flops are the main attire. Another well-to-do city is Newport Beach, worthy of inclusion in your road trip planner. A surprise in my last trip south was that of Dana Point Harbor, one of the most beautiful ports I found in my travels. Nearby, you'll find in San Juan Capistrano, another great cultural stop, this time with a twist Spanish, while strolling through the grounds of the icon of California, Mission San Juan Capistrano.

If you want to taste the salt air and completely surrounded by water, then add to your road trip planner stopped near Newport Beach and hip a ferry to Santa Catalina Island and explore the exciting city of Avalon. This is a cruise destination popular stop for you to enjoy rides on glass-bottom boat, take a tram to lush gardens, or enjoy snorkeling to the left of the pier (in the dock, facing the ground).

Now it's time to San Diego, the largest city in the south before reaching the border with Mexico! There you will find a thriving city with distinct areas like Little Italy, the Gaslamp Quarter and Balboa Park. Include in your road trip planning a trip for the fun of driving to an island, courtesy the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. You will place the famous Hotel Del Coronado, an extensive complex of white and red roof, "that was home to presidents, movie stars and tycoons its illustrious past. From there, walk along the Silver Stand Highway just for the sheer enjoyment of crossing a highway flanked by water on both sides. For Fun even more, enjoy a gondola ride sunset and pretend you're in Venice, Italy! From there, you have less than 5 miles from the Mexico border in San Ysidro is the southernmost community.

So there you have it. Between this blog and Cruisin 'California Coastline Road Trip – Part I, now that you've embraced the California coast from stem to stern, with side trips only the locals know. This road trip justice, I'd recommend at least two weeks. But About the Author
