Sand Rails Dune Buggies
What is the best way to put a quad / buggy adventure together?
Im looking to put together a buggy / ATV / sand rail adventure in Oregon in late October and I have curiosity what would be the best way to do it. Being from Texas, not sure where to start. I want more of a rush adrenaline rather than a family environment. New to the sport, so I'd like a group of people, but not the typical tourist trap, the basics:) if Camping can be integrated, even better! Thanks!
Sara Heya! Use of living in Oregon for 20 years and now lives in Nevada. I do these things all the time. If I may, let me give you some thoughts. Your question has a few things to consider. Sounds like you are new to the area of Oregon and currently does not have many friends in sport so far. Being as you're from Texas, let me tell you about the weather here in October. It could be beautiful sunny days, nonstop rain, or snow / wind / cold freezing. October may not be the best time to do this. West has almost no relatively stable climate of Texas. I'm not saying no ….. I do! =) You should know, that time we have now, probably will not be the same in October. You will have to pack and plan accordingly …. The first place to start, assuming you do not have a circle of friends in this area is to find aa club that is in this area. If indeed it does, I will elaborate on this later. Numerous all-terrain vehicles, off-road and Sandrail / dunebuggy clubs have events that you are looking to participate in. Do a search on Google for your area. You can find a club in Madras or Pendleton that has its interests, but perhaps not one in Portland, only as examples. Start looking for a club. If it does, in fact I have friends who are in it, where you can put a band together, I would look elsewhere in the east of the Cascades and south of I-84 to put together a travel plan. Most of these areas opposite limits are quite hard to make a "courageous", unfamiliar, non-tourist trap adventure together because of the restrictions, private property, etc. If you go to the limits I suggest that is more open space, fewer restrictions and opportunities for activities, other ATV and camping. If you are planning a trip like this, get some BLM maps and regulations check trail use, camping regulations, etc. If you have any questions, please contact the field office for the area that is, explain what you are trying to do, and verify that it is okay to do that. Oregon, Washington and California to change its regulations, not only regularly, but season. Living in Nevada, and is not that far from any point in Oregon, I would consider a trip here as well. Lots of open space regulations governing liberal use of ATV and camping is almost whenever you want, if not in private ownership. Feel free to write in more detail for more information or ideas.
