A question about possible overcharging exhaust repair a motorcycle?
I have a Yamaha Vino scooter 2006 (125 engine). I must also say I'm not mechanically inclined. I was in an accident some months ago and a friend of mine welded back into the silencer tube that connects the muffler and engine. Well, now the tube on the engine has come loose and now the entire muffler and pipe are hanging by a rubber tube. I live in a small town and there is only one place to work on a scooter. Since you say the parts are up to $ 501.00 and the work I'm looking for a possible bill from 900-1000 dollar repair. Can anyone who knows better to tell me if this sounds good or am I being fleeced? Such repair bill is half what I paid brand new scooter. Any advice is welcome. I should also add that I had six months ago quarter oil change and spark plug changed and my greased crowbar and charged me $ 240.00. Please help
It sounds as if filled with depleted. I've never had a bike before, but it must be quite simple. If you take the fairing off, you should be able to see if there real damage to the exhaust gases. It could be a matter of replacement joints, and a couple of screws. The other only thing I can think of that might drive the bill would be high if the bolts that hold the flange of the jar collector cylinder are separated into the jar. In which case they may be trying to sell a new pitcher. What is something I've never had to deal with before, but for $ 500, I would be willing to invest time in trying to exploit a broken bolt before I spending so much money. There are a number of disreputable stores in the world of mechanics. Before I got a lot to be a mechanic, I had little shop tell me that I had a problem with the brakes when I got out my tools and dug myself, turned out to be wheel bearings. (I wanted to sell a change brake, then install a bearing repair.) And $ 240 for an oil change and spark plug sounds a bit strong for me. (I can replace 6 plugs in my Jeep, change filter, and pour into six liters of oil for about $ 50.) E-mail me, take some pictures. I'll dig a wine specifications. D
