Is it against the law to drive a motorized wheelchair or scooter in the street?
Some sidewalks are cracked, too narrow, or presented at sections due to tree roots have grown underneath. Is it against the law to drive on the streets in Maryland in these circumstances for the owner of chairs / scooters? Can people get a ticket?
More towns and cities have ordinances for mobility devices, such like electric wheelchairs and scooters used by older people with disabilities, etc. Where I live, is to use the sidewalks. Now, of course, if a sidewalk is not available, I think the user of such a device should take precautions and use the side of a road. These statutes are made for reasons of public safety.
