Vw Sand Rails
’69 vw 2276 sand rail — with a new coil and power from the electronic ignition?
I have NO SPARK from the distrb. wire.
wondering if it may be the distributer–does the coil get power from the distributer?
how can I test the distributer?
or what direction should I go from here?
It all worked before I pulled the engine to replace the trans.
The distributer and points ground the coil, 12v+ should be market on the coil, that should go to the power lead(voltage with key on)
The negative (-) side of coil should go to the distributer. With the key on you should get a good spark from the center high tension lead when you tap that (-)lead to a ground.
To test to see if your points are working you need a dwell meter. But can look and see if they open and close when turning the engine over. VW’s are ez to work no just get a good manual.
